The market is booming, and with it comes a wave of unlicensed operators, lowball bids that balloon mid-project, and contractors who vanish once the deposit clears. It's genuinely hard to know who you can trust.

1-800-ADU-Pros exists to take that gamble off the table. We're a vetted directory of CSLB-licensed ADU builders serving the Greater Los Angeles area — so you only ever talk to pros who are properly licensed, bonded, and insured.

To be clear: 1-800-ADU-Pros is a referral and pre-qualification service, not a contractor. We don't hold a construction license and we don't build anything ourselves. Construction is performed by the independent, California-licensed contractors we introduce you to, and each builder's CSLB license number is shown on their profile so you can confirm it yourself.

How We Vet Builders

No builder appears in our directory until they clear our screening. We review every builder against the same set of public-record checks before we list them:

• Active CSLB license. We confirm a current, active California State License Board number in the right classification — typically Class B (General Building) for an ADU — verified against public CSLB records.
• Bonded & insured. We look for the required contractor's bond on file, plus general liability coverage and active workers' compensation for crews.
• Track record. We review CSLB complaint and disciplinary history and look for a verifiable history of completed Los Angeles ADU work.
• Local service area. We confirm the builder actively serves your part of the Greater Los Angeles market and knows the local permitting process.

Vetting reduces risk — it doesn't eliminate it. License, bond, and insurance status can change over time, which is why we re-check listed builders on an ongoing basis and always encourage you to confirm a builder's license yourself before you hire and before you pay. You can verify any license for free with the CSLB's "Check a License" tool.

For homeowners, 1-800-ADU-Pros is completely free. Browse our vetted builders, compare them by license, classification, and service area, or answer a few quick questions and we'll make a warm introduction to a pre-screened builder matched to your project and your part of LA — with no commitment.

For builders, a listing isn't something you can simply buy. Every contractor in the network has cleared our vetting checks. If you're a licensed LA ADU builder and want to be considered, you can request to be reviewed for the directory.
